Ada county encryption

Ada county Sheriff recently announced that they are encrypting all police channels.

The only source of information i have about this is the press release above, however in reading it, it seems that this will only affect Police channels, not Fire and EMS.

That being said, Canyon county police are all already encrypted so Ada county will be the only impacted area.

I do not believe this is in the interest of the public as i believe transparency and accountability go hand in hand. It makes sense that Tactical channels would be encrypted, however i see no valid reason for other channels to be encrypted. Update your policies and use data channels for sensitive information.

Citizen Joe will continue to broadcast as always. I do not anticipate much of a change at all to the channel over all am continuing to plan for expansion into new areas.

Sad to hear but also glad the channel will stay the same. I agree, transparency is huge, no need to encrypt the feed.

is there anyway a civilian can get that set up and re-post it like you do now?? how do you break encrypted shit?? I am all about transparency and this is a fine example of the police being shady yet were supposed to follow the line.. well FTP!!!!!!!!!

    1. I’m not decrypting any signals. What is still coming through is other sites or channels that are not encrypted. Also, im just a normal Joe civilian also.
